I just released a new YouTube video with a Bloomin’ Blinds franchisee who’s built a $1.2M/year business (from zero) in less than 2.5 years.
Graig spent his career in Corporate America and education.
But something changed in 2022. He wanted to challenge himself. He wanted more for himself and his family.
He quit his job, burned the boats, and went all in launching a window blinds franchise in September 2022.
Why blinds?
- Simple model (no inventory, low overhead)
- Huge market (everyone has windows)
- High earnings potential
- Low startup costs
Graig left himself no other choice but to succeed.
And the numbers tell that story: $700k in 2023, his first full calendar year.
$1.2M in 2024
Until now, Graig has run this entire operation from his garage with just one employee.
He just acquired two more territories, plans to move into a small warehouse, and is building his team.
But here’s what you won’t see in the financial reports:
His kids now understand what Dad does.
Instead of a vague “I work in an office,” they see him measuring windows, helping customers, and solving problems.
The business has become a family conversation.
At dinner, they talk about customer wins. His kids suggest marketing ideas (some surprisingly good).
They see the direct connection between work and results.
His oldest can explain gross profit margins.
Most importantly, Graig’s children are learning that work doesn’t have to be something that takes you away from family.
It can bring purpose, challenges, and growth while supporting the life you want.
His daughter recently told him, “Dad, I want to own a business someday too.” That moment was worth more than any sales milestone.
The highest value of business ownership isn’t on your P&L statement. It’s in the model you create for your family.
Kids don’t learn work ethic from lectures. They learn by watching you.
Most people chase income, then try to find time for family with whatever’s left.
Successful franchise owners flip that equation: they build family-centered businesses that generate both income and presence.
Don’t just evaluate franchises on revenue potential.
Look at operational flexibility, schedule control, and location.
I’m excited to watch Graig’s business grow.
Reply here if you want to learn more about Bloomin’ Blinds or want my help exploring other franchise opportunities.
Cheers!
Brian
