What I look for in a business partner

I’ve been searching for the right operating partner for my Waterloo Turf franchise business since December.

I’m excited to have found him through The Honor Foundation

Honor is a non-profit that helps former elite military veterans transition into civilian leadership roles.

Rick spent 20 years as a Navy Seabee – a construction unit that builds and maintains bases, airfields, roads, bridges, and other support facilities in war zones.

There is one trait I look for above all else 👇

Ownership.

For a service franchise, especially in an emerging brand, you need an owner who’s going to eat, sleep & breathe the business.

Someone who spends 12+ hours per day thinking about the business.

Someone resilient in the face of adversity.

I’m building a portfolio of franchises across different industries and locations. I will fund the start-up costs, run the back office, and provide the strategy.

I need a boots-on-the-ground partner driving the business forward every day.

Ownership doesn’t just mean equity.

You can give someone equity, but they still treat the business as a job — something they start up at 9 and turn off at 5.

I need someone with an ownership mindset.

They don’t make excuses.

They have a burning desire to get shit done.

They never play the victim. They are driven to win.

I’ve had a lot of success hiring leaders directly from the military.

These guys are in the top 1% in leadership, resilience, drive, and taking ownership.

They are the definition of “getting shit done.”

Why Waterloo Turf?

Artificial turf is a huge growing market.

There are no national players. Waterloo plans to be the #1 turf brand within a few years.

Most of the installers are small independents or distributorship models.

The pricing model is simple — everything is $ per square foot.

We launch the Houston market in May, along with a few other trailblazers in Dallas and Arizona.

Reply “waterloo” if you’re interested to learn more.

The best territories across the country are open.

Cheers!

Brian

P.S. I shared all the details of this partnership agreement and process within my private franchisee community, 8-Figure Franchisee. We have 7 spots open for new members in March.
