Meet Keyboard Kyle

Keyboard Kyle is not a person.

He’s a behavior.

He manifests in franchise owners who can’t break free from their old corporate habits.

Keyboard Kyle spent his entire career climbing the corporate ladder with spreadsheets and PowerPoints as his weapons of choice.

Typing furiously brought him success in that world.

The problem is that he brings that same mentality to his new franchise.

And it’s killing his business.

Because Keyboard Kyle is always focused on what worked in his past life, he is, by definition, avoiding what works in his new reality.

AKA the hands-on work.

The franchise owner must learn how to put down the keyboard and pick up whatever tool their business demands.

Keyboard Kyle struggles with this.

He’s busy “fine-tuning” his Google Ad campaigns while others are knocking on the doors of local businesses.

He’s “optimizing his CRM” while others call back every customer who declined jobs last month.

His keyboard is his crutch.

He spends hours theorizing about market penetration strategies instead of hitting the road to see what actually works in his territory.

When Keyboard Kyle bought his franchise, his first thought was “how quickly can I set up systems that don’t require me to leave my desk?”

He analyzes data about customer interactions while never having meaningful ones himself.

And that’s what screws him.

Contrary to the 8-Figure Franchisee who knows when to put the laptop away and roll up their sleeves, handling the messy realities that spreadsheets can’t solve.

Keyboard Kyle is simply incapable of breaking his corporate habits.

He creates another dashboard while his territory sits untapped.

I do not know why Keyboard Kyle bought a franchise.

But I do know why he won’t grow it.

A huge component of this game is doing the work others won’t

Success requires action, not just analysis.

And Keyboard Kyle’s entire game plan is planning instead of doing.

Don’t be a Keyboard Kyle.
