This cost me big

It was supposed to be a simple “day in the life” video with one of my tow truck drivers.

Everything was going perfectly.

Until it wasn’t.

I felt like an idiot after this happened 👇

Not because of the issue but because of what I didn’t do…

After we bought the trucks, I didn’t have our mechanics thoroughly go over them.

I figured we could put them straight into service.

They would’ve caught this problem and saved me all the headaches.

It’s easy to skip the basics when you’re experienced.

You’ve done vehicle inspections a hundred times.

You’ve bought equipment before.

You think you can eyeball it and move fast.

Here’s the problem with “experience”…

It makes you overconfident in your judgment.

You start cutting corners because you’ve “seen it all.”

You assume things are fine because they look fine.

The principle that applies to every business:

Prevention costs pennies. Problems cost dollars.

Whether it’s equipment maintenance, staff training, or quality control, the moment you skip your checklist is the moment you pay the price.

Now we have a thorough checklist!

Every truck gets a full inspection every month

No exceptions.

Cheers!
