If one of your teams is struggling, start by taking a hard look at the leader.
They could be setting the wrong tone.
Too hard on everyone.
Not hard enough.
Here’s what I see constantly:
A bad leader tolerates bullshit, then everyone takes shortcuts.
We’ve literally DOUBLED sales overnight by changing one person: the manager.
Often I hear the same excuses:
- “Nobody has any money”
- “The economy is terrible”
- “The advertising isn’t working”
- “None of the employees want to work”
Yes, there are always external and internal pressures.
But the best leaders find a way through.
They acknowledge the challenges and come up with a game plan to attack them.
They stay positive when facing negativity.
They find a way to win.
If YOU ARE the leader that’s struggling:
Take a hard look in the mirror.
Step back and ask yourself:
- Where can I do better?
- Where am I making excuses?
- What do I need to believe to accomplish my goals?
All the answers are inside of us, just beyond our current frame.
Picture yourself looking outside a window
All you can see is straight ahead and to the right and left a little.
But there’s an entire world out there.
You just need to find a way to see it.
Cheers!
Brian
