Many of us face the same problem:
I’m not talking about hiring, deals, or money.
It’s drift.
You set a goal on Monday. By Friday, you’ve been pulled in 47 directions and that goal is buried under a pile of “urgent” fires.
How do you solve this?
Being part of an accountability group is one of the best ways to stay on track.
Think of this small group as your personal board of directors.
Other business owners you respect to celebrate wins, reflect on losses, challenges, and who will call you out on B.S. when needed.
I’ve been part of accountability groups for years. They taught me how to get clarity on what really matters & execute better.
Here’s what it actually looks like:
3-5 members. You meet weekly or bi-weekly at the same time.
45-60 minutes on video.
You follow a strict agenda on wins + challenges + results from last week
Then you make a new commitment for next week.
The goal isn’t to socialize but to get shit done.
Why it works:
When you tell three other owners you’re going to do something… you do it.
There’s something about saying “I’m going to hire that Ops manager by Friday” to people who will ask you about it next week that actually makes it happen.
No one should be soapboxing in these meetings.
The magic is in the questions:
- What’s getting in the way?
- Why is this important to you?
- When can you allocate time for this?
The right questions help you gain clarity.
One hack that works:
Set a penalty for missing major commitments.
I’m not talking about $20… something that would actually hurt.
$5,000 donation to a politician you can’t stand.
100 burpees every day for 5 days.
Something you really don’t want to do.
Amazing how that deadline suddenly becomes real.
