I just shut down my business

I launched a towing business 8 months. We just shut it down

My thesis was simple: every broken-down car that gets towed ends up at a repair shop.

If I owned the tow trucks, I’d get paid to bring customers into my own shops instead of spending hundreds of thousands a year on marketing to find them.

So we bought three trucks, hired drivers, ran Google ads, and got to work.

They brought in about $150,000 in repair work to our shops.

But the trucks were constantly breaking.

Insurance was $16-20k per truck per year. Drivers, fuel, a full-time manager, Google ads… it all added up.

At one point, we literally had one truck on the road because the other two were in the shop.

All in, we lost about $60k.

But that wasn’t the reason I shut it down.
