Disrupting the Mosquito Industry

Mosquito Nix is a new franchise disrupting an industry:

  • Recurring revenue
  • Low start-up costs
  • Eco-friendly chemicals
  • State-of-the-art systems

Let’s dive in 👇

Business Model

A traditional mosquito company sends an employee wearing a “Ghostbusters” backpack to spray every 10 to 20 days.

Mosquito Nix doesn’t do this.

Instead, they install misters, similar to the produce aisle at the grocery store, all around your property.

Customers pay a one-time fee upfront to install the system plus a monthly recurring fee to maintain it and refill it as needed.

The corporate locations claim to have 98% customer retention because the system works plus….. have you heard of the “sunk cost fallacy?”

Technology

The misters are set to go off on a schedule. Customers can also control from their phones.

Franchisees can remotely monitor chemical levels. A technician gets alerted to refill the system when it’s low

The chemical is a property blend safe for people, pets & plants.

Background

The company was founded in 2003. They’ve built systems to scale the company over the last 20 years. This includes an in-house customer acquisition center, marketing & sales process, eco-friendly chemicals, & custom-build technology.

All inbound leads go to their call center. The corporate reps can estimate & sell over the phone.

They partnered with FranDevCo in 2023 to franchise across the country.

Financial Performance

MosquitoNix reports the financial performance of the corporate locations in Item 19 of the 2024 FDD.

Their four “conforming” markets did $5.2M in revenue with strong margins.

As with all franchises, there is no guarantee you will earn this much.

Success in operating a franchise is based on your ability to hire great people, hold them accountable for following the process, and drive sales.

Start-Up Costs

$121k to $156k for a single territory.

(See Item 7 of the 2024 FDD for full break-down of investment)

Each territory is 60,000 single-family homes with $100k+ of household income

This model targets upper-income people who have already invested in creating a nice outdoor living space.

Bonus!

They just rolled out a Christmas lights program.

It also utilizes the same labor to install & warehouse to store the lights plus targets the same customers.
