At 9am on Monday my wife & kids decided to go to the zoo.
It was going to be a beautiful day – 60 and sunny.
I made a split-second decision to join them.
I rescheduled two calls to clear my calendar.
No explaining myself to anyone.
This is what real wealth looks like.
It’s not about the numbers in your bank account.
It’s about having the freedom to say “yes” to the moments that matter most without asking anyone for permission.
Most people become entrepreneurs for this same reason.
They want control over their time, schedule, and life.
But here’s the irony: many end up more trapped than when they worked for someone else.
They’ve built a business that depends entirely on them. They’ve created their own prison.
Owning a business is not enough. You have to build systems and teams that succeed without your physical presence every day.
Years ago, I could’ve never taken the day off.
I lived in that prison.
I counted 100 calls daily while managing 8-10 shops.
My phone would shut off in the summer because it had to cool down after so many calls.
But then I learned how to replace myself.
I started by replacing myself as the District Manager and moved to the COO role.
Then, I replaced myself as the COO, and now I have replaced myself as the CEO.
I’ve been very intentional every step of the way.
