Recurring Revenue with Puddle Pools

The best part of summer is enjoying your pool (and all the creatures you find in it!)

What I love about the Puddle Pools franchise:

  • Recurring Revenue
  • Simple & Scalable
  • Low Overhead
  • Year-Round

Let’s dive in:

Business Model

Puddle Pool is all about recurring revenue.

Their goal is to get customers to sign up for weekly or bi-weekly maintenance plans for 3 main services:

Pool, Hot Tub, & Spa Maintenance: includes cleaning, chemical balancing, and equipment checks

Openings/Closings: prepare pools for summer use or shut them down for the winter, providing big-ticket jobs during peak transition times

Specialty Services: filter cleaning, complete pool draining, and green-to-clean recovery services when a quick fix or a deep clean is needed

They service homeowners and commercial accounts to make pool cleaning a year-round business no matter where you live.

Apartment buildings, hotels, gyms, spas, and fitness centers require consistent cleaning and water testing. Customers get it done weekly at a minimum—some even require daily cleans.

Homeowners provide consistent, low-ticket work, while commercial clients provide larger contracts that boost profit margins.

By balancing these two, franchisees diversify their income, reducing dependency on any single customer segment and increasing their ability to scale.

Simple & Scalable

You can run it from home and keep costs low by starting with 1 truck & 1 tech.

As the owner, you hit the streets, signing up new accounts and building recurring revenue. Once the sales are pouring in you scale by adding more techs & more vans.

I like this low-risk approach, especially for first-time business owners.

Start-Up Costs & Ideal Franchisee

Puddle wants owners with strong people skills and the drive to build a scalable business.

No prior pool experience is required.

A single territory costs $95k to $118k

The company was founded in 2018, started franchising in 2022 and has 22 franchisees operating today.

Earnings Potential

In Item 19 of the FDD, they provide a P&L of their corporate location and 2 franchise locations that operated for a full 12 months in 2023.

They also provide a breakdown of average expenses, number of jobs, and job size.

As with any brand (especially a young one) it’s important to speak to current franchisees.
