Our story can be found on our chip bag, which reads, “This bag should not exist. This company should not exist,” and it couldn’t be more true.
Our humble beginnings started in late 2013 with a cozy corner restaurant (without a sign) in Land O’Lakes, FL. The original Owners bootstrapped the endeavor to the point that the first rent check bounced. Probably a scary experience for most, but those Owners knew then what we know now, failure was never an option at Capital Tacos.
Once the Owners were able to get the restaurant up and running, the customers came, word of mouth grew, and the notoriety of Capital Tacos began to spread.
In 2016, the rave reviews made their way to friends and successful entrepreneurs James Marcus and Josh Luger, who visited the location and loved everything about it! From the authentic look and feel of the space to the excellent scratch-cooked food, they knew they wanted to be involved.
The duo purchased the business, and over the next seven years, James and Josh worked to simplify the menu, build out best-in-class systems and technology, and drive down food costs.
After perfecting the model and seeing the exponential growth of the fast-casual Tex-Mex industry, James, Josh, and the entire Capital Tacos team are excited to present a restaurant franchise unlike any other. With a focus on maintaining a superior product and keeping the local look and feel of the first Capital Tacos, we are confident this concept will become the next big thing in franchising!
