Brand History

The story goes that Cliff was stuck in traffic, feeling frustrated and over it, when he saw the Frios stand on the side of the road. There was a long line of people with smiles on their faces and Cliff decided to pull over. He ordered the Key Lime Pie pop and was immediately transported to a beach in Florida, carefree and happy. Cliff knew in that moment he had taken a bite of his future. Cliff called his wife, Abby, and told her we’re buying a popsicle company. He bought the Mobile, AL territory as the franchisee and it did not take long for Cliff to realize the tremendous potential that Frios could have to bring happiness to Frios guests and freedom to future entrepreneurs. With excitement, enthusiasm, and a love of pops, Cliff bought Frios Corporate on December 21, 2018.

The following summer, the headquarters moved to Mobile, Alabama. This larger manufacturing center and corporate office gave us the opportunity to ramp up production, implement new growth strategies, and provide additional support for franchisees. With the pandemic came another big change with the introduction of the Frios Sweet Ride. With it came freedom, flexibility, fewer employees and a larger bottom line.

The final piece of the Frios puzzle came last year when Cliff brought on Patti Rother, our President, to build the franchising infrastructure and bring the brand to the next level. With over 16 years of experience in the franchising industry and a wealth of knowledge, Patti has worked tirelessly to build the brand persona, create training tools, manuals, and procedures as well as perfect our franchise development process.

Today, over 50 franchise locations have opened in communities across the US, and Frios pops can be found in countless establishments, stadiums, and restaurants. By next year, we will have over 100 locations coast to coast!
